Volunteering your time and talent to the Alpine Runners and the Chicago area running community can be a terrific way to make new friends, give back to others, and leave you with a great feeling! Following are some opportunities. Please consider participating!
The Alpine Runners have made a commitment to the State of Illinois that we will pick up the trash along a portion of Route 22, 4 times per year. In exchange, the State puts up a street sign thanking the Alpine Runners. Board Member Mary Ann Zemla coordinates this cleanup effort. Please contact her for additional information or with your offer to assist. The time commitment is minimal; the rewards are priceless!
Water Stop Volunteers for Saturday Mornings
Water and Gatorade does NOT magically appear on the Saturday morning course courtesy of the "Water and Gatorade Fairies". Actual runners put these stops out and it can become tedious and overwhelming if you do it too often (kind of like over training). Share the task with 3 other people and then it becomes a 1 time per month obligation. Contact Dave Wcislo at firstname.lastname@example.org to take your turn.
