Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering your time and talent to the Alpine Runners and the Chicago area running community can be a terrific way to make new friends, give back to others, and leave you with a great feeling!  Following are some opportunities.  Please consider participating!

Adopt-A-Highway Coordinator

The Alpine Runners have made a commitment to the State of Illinois that we will pick up the trash along a portion of Route 22, 4 times per year. In exchange, the State puts up a street sign thanking the Alpine Runners. We need a Volunteer Coordinator to organize the effort. Great opportunity to give back to the community and the club...it also looks good on a resume. Contact any board member for details.  We need someone to step up and help!

Water Stop Volunteers for Saturday Mornings

Water and gatorade does NOT magically appear on the Saturday morning course courtesy of the "Water and Gatorade Fairies". Actual runners put these stops out and it can become tedious and overwhelming if you do it too often (kind of like over training). Share the task with 3 other people and then it becomes a 1 time per month obligation. Contact Dave Wcislo at dwcislo@sbcglobal.net to take your turn.
